Wellington near Sawley, near Fountains Abbey.
On the 11th of April 1943 the crew of this aircraft took off from Pershore at 21.15hrs to undertake a night time navigation exercise.
Whilst on the flight and without warning the aicraft dived into the ground at 01.30hrs in Fountains Park, near Foal Cote, and between
the villages of Sawley and Markington. The aircraft struck a fairly substantial tree just prior to hitting the ground. All those on
the aircraft died in the crash. The cause was never discovered.

In June 2007 Ken Reast showed me the site of where this aircraft crashed, nothing remains on the surface today. He had located the site some years ago.
A new fence had just been erected around the field and I found a peice of the aircraft in a heap of soil next to one of the new posts.
