Tomahawk near Dishforth Airfield.

On the 16th of December 1942 a member of Dishforth's ground crew attempted to fly this aircraft, he managed to leave the ground briefly and hopped over the A1 before stalling and crashing in a field 400 yards later at 10.00hrs. The "pilot" was killed in the crash.

(Pilot) / Fitter IIE - AC1 Arthur O Bidduplh RAF (635791), aged 21, of Woolwich, buried Woolwich Cemetery, London.

In June 2007 Ken Reast showed me where aircraft crashed. He had searched for the crash site years before and whilst only locating one peice this was identifiable as coming from a Tomahawk and there by confirming the crash site.
