Jet Provost on East Moor airfield
The Jet Provost made a forced landing on the 22nd of June 1970 on the disused East Moor airfield due engine failure. The aircraft was written off after the undercarriage collapsed. The crew are thought to have escaped serious injury.
It is thought to be the last RAF aircraft to make a landing there.
Much of the three runways have now been returned to farming. The remaining land is private.
