Halifax damaged by FLAK (returned to East Moor airfield).
On the 10th of September, whilst on the same Dusseldorf raid as the previous listing this aircraft was hit in the nose by flak
whilst flying to the north of Neuss. The bomb aimer was killed by the blast. The rest of the crew were
uninjured and returned home to East Moor where Cat A(c)/FA damaged was declared.
The aircraft was built by E.E.C at Salmesbury under contract B982938/39 and
was delivered to 158 Sqdn in August 1942. After repair after this incident it was returned to 158 Sqdn only to be lost
on 8th November 1942 returning from Ops to Genoa.
The aircraft was built to contract B982938/39 by E.E.C. Ltd at Salmesbury and delivered directly to 158 Sqdn at East Moor on 9th August
1942 but it was not used operationally until 22nd August 1942. It suffered Cat. A(c)/FB damage in the incident detailed above and was repaired
on site with repair being completed by 26th September 1942.
It was lost as Cat. E2/FB on 8th November 1942 when returning from Ops to Genova when it ran short of fuel and was ditched at 04.30 hrs
in the mouth of the River Humber with the loss of 3 lives.
KILLED - BA - P/O William Edward George Domaille RAFVR (110638). Aged 27, of Shirehampton, Bristol. Buried at St. Andrews Church, Cheddar.
The rest of the crew survived.

F/Sgt Murphy is buried in the Reichswald War Cemetery having being lost in Halifax W1222 on 16/17th September 1942 on Ops to
Essen when the aircraft crashed 6 km S.E. of Krefeld.
P/O W Green was lost on 11th August 1943 when Halifax HR938 was shot down on Ops to Nurnberg and crashed at Wancennes (Namur), 17 km South
of Dinant, Belgium. He is buried in Florennes Communal Cemetery, Belgium. P/O I Hirshbien baled out and became a POW on the same mission.
Sgt Ensor was killed on 15/16th October 1942 when his Halifax W1108 "The Menace" crashed in Holand after being shot down by a night
fighter. It crashed 5 km. N. of Hellendoorn. He is buried in Hellendoorn General Cemetery.
