Miles Master at Clifton Airfield.

On the 9th of March 1942, this aircraft swung on landing at Clifton, the aircraft came to rest on its back after nosing over at 15.30hrs. Damage was only slight; Cat B damage being sustained. Clifton's ORB states "Master T8549, 4 Delivery Flight, Turnhouse. Cat A/B". Whilst the aircraft was officially based at Prestwick (Glasgow) it was actually flying from Turnhouse (Edinburgh) and was probably also being used by Rawcliffe. 4 Delivery Flt was in fact 4 FPP.

The aircraft was built to contract 44440/39 by Philips & Powys at Woodley and delivered to RAF MU storage in December 1940. It was issued to 54 OTU at Church Fenton on an as yet unspecified date in 1941 then there is a gap in the aircrafts recorded history. It was eventually transferred to 4 FPP at Prestwick and suffered Cat B/FA damage on 9th March 1942. It was repaired in works and after repair it was then issued to 60 OTU at East Fortune on an unspecified date in 1942. 60 OTU disbanded on 24th November 1942 and the aircraft was transferred shortly after to 61 OTU at Rednall. In early 1943 it made it's final move to 5 PAFU at Ternhill. It became an instructional airframe 3662M in April 1943.
