Mosquito at East Moor Airfield.

On the 29th of January 1946 this aircraft suffered an engine failure in the air during a night training flight, the pilots approach to land at base was too fast and the aircraft ran out of runway to stop on, it overturned after overshooting and burnt out. The navigator was sadly killed. The crew were:

Pilot - P/O A R Turner RAF - survived.

Nav - Ft Lt Kenneth I Thornton DFC, aged 23, killed. Of Stanmore, Middlesex, buried Bells Hill Burial Grnd, Hertfordshire.

I have yet to locate and visit where the aircraft came to rest.
