Bleriot Monoplane on Filey Beach.

Around the 20th of August 1910 (a Saturday) the pilot of this aircraft had made several ahort flights along the beach at Filey when the aircraft crashed into the sands damaging a wing and the propeller. The pilot was pinned under the engine for a time but was not injured. he was rescued unhurt.

Pilot - Mr John William House, of Bradford, ok.

Mr House owned his own Bleriot aircraft which he initially flew from his home area in Bradford, and which he crashed at Bradford weeks earlier. He took this aircraft to Filey to try and win a prize offered for someone flying a two miles stretch of beach, who had not previously won a prize. Mr House is then thought to have joined up with Mr Blackburn and buying a cottage on the cliff tops.
