Bleriot Monoplane on Filey Beach.

On an unknown date in July 1910 this aircraft cartwheeled onto Filey Beach from a height of fifty feet, it then rolled a further twenty feet. The aircraft not suprisingly was destroyed but the pilot was reported to have been unhurt. This pilot is also believed to have had two other accidents at Filey in 1910-1911 but the full details are not yet known.

Pilot - Mr John William House, of Bradford, ok.

Mr House owned his own Bleriot aircraft which he initially flew from his home area in Bradford, and which he crashed at Bradford weeks earlier. He took this aircraft to Filey to try and win a prize offered for someone flying a two miles stretch of beach, who had not previously won a prize. Mr House is then thought to have joined up with Mr Blackburn and buying a cottage on the cliff tops.
