Mustang at Clifton Airfield.

On the 12th of October 1942 this Mustang suffered minor damage at Clifton airfield. There were no injuries but nothing further is known. The aircraft was written off less than two months later and detailed on this website.

The aircraft was built to purchase contract 15471 by North American at Inglewood,Dallas and shipped to the UK, arriving in April 1942. After assembly and testing at MU it was issued to 169 Sqdn at Doncaster in June 1942. It suffered this mishap, Cat. A(c)/FA damage being reported at Clifton on 12th October 1942 and was repaired on site. It was lost on a test flight from Clifton on 20th December 1942 with Cat.E2/FA damage.
