Blackburn aircraft at Clifton Airfield.

The aircraft in question. My thanks to Mr Jim Rudland for this photograph.

The civil aircraft was taking part in a two day airshow at Clifton Airfield in June 1951 when it stalled at a height of 25 feet, whilst turning after a low level pass to demonstrate its manouverability. It dived into the ground on the airfield infront of the crowd seriously injuring the pilot. It was one of only two B2's surviving at the time, it is thought that now the only one in existance is owned by BAe at Brough.

Pilot - Mr H Radcliffe

The crash site.

I have yet to locate the site although the airfield is now occupied by a shopping development.

My thanks to Mr Derek Cooper for telling me about this crash, he witnessed it as a child.
