On Satuday the 9th of January 1937 and aircraft was being flown to Redcar when the pilot became lost, he force landed in a field alongside Hackness Road, Newby. Neither machine or pilot was damaged. On landing the pilot went to a nearby farm with a telephone and rang Redcar to tell them what had happened. They sent out another aircraft which found him and his aircraft, this second aircraft landed in the same field and soon later in the afternoon both aircraft took off and finished the journey to Redcar without other incident.
Pilot - Unknown, ok.
I have no details regarding what type these aircraft were. My information comes from the local newspaper which makes not mention of these facts other than them being RAF planes.
