Jet Provost near Northallerton.

On the 20th of April 1965 this aircraft was involved in a collision with another Jet Provost (listed previously). Both pilots ejected but the student sadly was killed. The aircraft came down 1.5 miles east of Northallerton. The aircraft suffered Cat 5(s)/FA damage.

The aircraft was built to contract KC/E/031 by Hunting at Luton and completed on 31st July 1961. Following delivery to 27 MU on 1st August 1961 to was issued to 3 FTS at Leeming on 22nd September 1961.

Student Pilot - A P/O Laurence Mead RAF (4232372), aged 18, of Welshpool, Montgomeryshire. Buried Leeming Churchyard, Yorkshire.
