Hudson at Thornaby Airfield.

On the 10th of February 1942 this aircraft crashed on take off from Thornaby.

This aircraft was purchased direct from Lockheed-Vega by the BPC and delivered to the UK in July 1941. After acceptance at MU it was issed to 6(C)OTU on an as yet unspecified date. It later served with 279 Sqdn at Bircham Newton and had a period as Bircham Newton's Station Flight aircraft but was then transferred back to 279 Sqdn. It's last unit was 251 Sqdn at Reykjavik which reformed on 1st August 1944. The aircraft went into storage (somewhere?) and was eventually struck off charge on 9th January 1946.
