On the 6th of September 1954 this aircraft became lost in poor weather after the wireless failed, the aircraft ran short of fuel so the pilot made a forced landing on Redcar Racecourse. No damage to the aircraft was sustained. The next day the weather improved, the aircraft was refueled and the aircraft took off again from the Racecourse, reportedly in 2 1/2 furlongs!
