Hudson at Thornaby Airfield.

On the 13th of March 1942 the trainee pilot of this aircraft lost control on take-off and could not prevent aircraft swinging off runway, the resulting crash was later reported as 'after leaving the runway ran into a sunken road'. It resulted in damage to the aircraft being enough to be deemed beyond economical repair. It was written off with Cat E/FA damage.

The aircraft was purchased direct from Lockheed-Vega at Burbank, California by the BPC without contract and delivered to the UK in May 1941. After acceptance at MU was issued to 6(C)OTU on an as yet unspecified date.
