On the 25th of July 1942 this aircraft crashed onto the runway at Thornaby Airfield during a landing at night. A
heavy landing caused the underacciage to collapse. The aircraft suffered Cat E2/FA damage and was written off as a result.

The aircraft was built by Lockheed-Vega at Burbank, California and purchased without contract by the B.P.C. It was delivered to the
UK by ship in October 1940 and after accpetance at MU was issued to 224 Sqdn at Leuchars at an unspecified date in early 1941.
By late 1941 it had been transferred to 233 Sqdn at St. Eval and from there moved to 6(C)OTU in early 1942.
