On the 2nd of January 1942 this aircraft crashed on landing at Thornaby airfield. The aircraft was repaired.
The aircraft was purchased direct from Lockheed-Vega at Burbank, California by the British Purchasing Conmmission
without contract and delivered to the UK in July 1941. After acceptance at MU it was issued to 6(C)OTU in late 1941. Cat A/FA
damage was suffered in the incident at Thornaby detailed above, where after it was repaired and returned to service,
continued to serve with 6(C)OTU until being retired to storage. It was struck off charge on 30th November 1945.

The pilot could well have been Robert D Stow who was killed on 15th June 1944, he was serving with 160
Sqdn at the time. He is buried in Colomb Cemetery, Sri Lanka. He was 31 years old.
