Hudson at Thornaby Airfield.

On the 28th of January 1942 this aircraft was badly damaged at Thornaby Airfield when it overshot a landing and the undercarriage collapsed. The aircraft was written off but the crew are not though to have been seriously injured.

The aircraft was purchased without contract direct from Lockheed-Vega at Burbank, California by the British Purchasing Commisssion and delivered to the UK in October 1940. After acceptance at MU was issued to 206 Sqdn at Bircham Newton on an as yet unspecified date in 1941. It was transferred to 6(C)OTU in late 1941 and written off Cat E/FA at Thornaby in the above detailed incident.
