Lysander at Thornaby.

On the 21st of September 1940 this aircraft was taking off from Thornaby airfield when it climbed at too steep an angle, a stall occured and the aircraft crashed back down onto the airfield at 10.00hrs. Cat W/FA damage was sustained to the aircraft. The two airmen on board sadly were killed.

The aircraft was built to contract 23637/39 by Westand at Yeovil and after acceptance was delivered to 4 Squadron in August 1940.
