Hudson at Quarry Farm, Ingleby Barwick.

On the 11th of June 1940 this aircraft swung on take off from Thornaby and crashed near Quarry Farm, Ingleby Barwick at 03.20hrs. The crash caused the bombload to explode killing all four airmen. Cat W/FA damage was sustained, the Court of Inquiry returned a result as "cause obscure".

The aircraft was built to contract 791587/38 by Lockheed at Burbank and after delivery to the UK, assembly and testing it was issued to 220 Sqdn in early 1940.

This would be the first of two Hudson crashes at Quarry Farm.
