On the 15th of July 1942 this aircraft swung on landing at Thornaby and crashed into a mound of earth. The aircraft was repaired, Cat B/FA damage sustained.

The aircraft was built to contract 791587/38 by Lockheed-Vega at Burbank, California and was delivered by ship to the UK in March 1940. After acceptance at MU was issed to 224 Sqdn at Leuchars at an unspecified date in mid 1940. It was tranferred to 6(C)OTU in July 1941. After the above mishap it was repaired and upon completion was issued to the ATA as an aircrew 'hack' in 1943. It served until being struck off charge on 28th June 1945.
