Hudson near Thornaby Vale Farm.

On the 16th of August 1940 this aircraft took off from Thornaby at 17.30hrs for a training exercise, shortly after take off an engine failed and the aircraft crashed into the ground. Both airmen were taken to Station Sick Quarters at Thornaby before being transferred to Stockton Hospital where one later died of his injuries. The aircraft sustained Cat W/FA damage.

The aircraft was built to contract 791587/38 by Lockheed at Burbank, California and after delivery to the UK and acceptance it was delivered to 220 Squadron in September 1939.
