On the 18th June 1942 this aircraft was struck by Hudson V8975 whilst it was parked at Thornaby. It sustained damage
given as Cat B/FA. It is not known if anyone was on the aircraft at the time, though this seems doubtful.
The aircraft was built to contract 791587/38 by Lockheed at Burbank. After delivery to the UK was issued to 224 Sqdn
at Leuchars in late 1939 before being tranferred to 220 Sqdn in 1940. It suffered slight damage at Thornaby in April 1940 but was repaired.
When the unit moved to Nutts Corner on 9th January 1942 the aircraft was left in the care of 6 (C)OTU at Thornaby.
Following damage in this incident detailed above it was repaired in works was issued to 83 Group Communications Flight then
finally to No. 1 Radio School where it became instructional airframe No.4768M in May 1944.
