Avro 504 at Redcar.

On the 3rd of February 1917 this aircraft was badly damaged on landing at Redcar, Initially Cat R/FA damage was given however the aircraft was not repaired for some time. It was eventually returned to service only to be written off as Cat W/FA in an accident at Redcar on the 13th of December 1917 and was deleted two days later.

The aircraft was built by The Sunbeam Motor Co. Ltd of Wolverhampton. It was built as a 504B but converted during manufacture to a 504H, it was delivered to RNAS Redcar by rail on the 4th of December 1916. For some reason went down to RNAS Scarbrough on the 29th of January 1917 but returned to Redcar the next day.
