Botha near Ormesby

A 608 Sqdn Botha at Thornaby.

At 09.30hrs on the 24th of August 1940 this aircaft made a forced belly-landing near Ormesby sewage works after the engine cut out soon after take off. It struck a hedge before running into a ditch. The crew are not thought to have been seriously injured. YAM records state that of the four on board, three were injured. The aircraft sustained Cat W/FA damage.

The aircraft was built to contract 563935/36 by Blackburn's at Brough and after acceptance it was delivered to 608 Squadron in early 1940.
