Anson at Thornaby Airfield.

On the 19th of September 1939 this Anson collided with another on the ground at Thornaby airfield, both were later repaired. This aircraft suffered Cat R/FA damage, only three days after being landed on Redcar Racecourse for unknown reasons.

The aircraft was built to contract 497339/36 by A.V. Roe Ltd at Woodford and delivered to 224 Sqdn on 10th July 1937. It was returned to A.V. Roe Ltd for modifications on 5th August 1938 and returned to 224 Sqdn on 2nd September 1938. It was transferred to 220 Sqdn on 27th June 1939. Following this incident it was repaired and returned to service and transferred to S of GR on 14th November 1939. It was destroyed on the ground during evacuation of Guernsey on 5th July 1940.
