Fury at Thornaby Airfield.

On the 12th of November 1936 this aircraft stalled on its approach to land at Thornaby and crashed. The pilot was uninjured and the aircraft repaired. Cat R/FA damage being sustained. The aircraft was later to be written off Cat W/FA in another crash on the 19th May 1938. It was struck off charge on 16th September 1938.

The aircraft was built to contract 419059/35 by General Aircraft Ltd at Hanworth and was delivered to 9 FTS on the 24th July 1936.

James Elliot was to loose his life on the 29t May 1940, serving with 56 Sqdn, he was 25 years old. He is commemerated on the Runnymede Memorial.
