On the 1st of January 1937 this aircraft taxied into a fuel bowser at Thornaby airfield. The aircraft suffered Cat R/FA damage and was later repaired and returned to service only to suffer another crash some years later on 11th April 1940 when it suffered a Cat R/Burnt incident. The fire must have been put out before it was completely gutted and it then became an instructional airframe, carrying the code, 2113M on the 21st July 1940. It was built to contract 437223/35 by A.V. Roe at Chadderton and delivered to 9 FTS on 16th Decenber 1936.

Clifford Wood was to be killed on 22nd October 1943, he was serving with 103 Sqdn at the time and was 27 years old.
