On the 25th of June 1936 this aircraft was damaged as a result of Audax K5247 taying into it whilst it was parked at Thornaby airfield.

K5816 had along service life, having being built to contract 410420/35 by Vickers at Weybridge it was delivered to 9 FTS on 18 March 1936.
Following this Cat R/FA mishap on the
25th June 1936 it was repaired and returned to service and continued to serve with 9 FTS until being transferred to 1 ASU on 6th Jan 1938.
It was later transferred to 10 ERFTS on 23rd Feb 1938 and suffered a Cat R/FA on 23rd March 1938, it was then taken to HAD for repair.
Following repair it was issued to 9 ERFTS on 15th Sept 1938 then 11 ERFTS on 6th June 1939 then 5 FTS on 3rd Sept 1939 moving onto
1 FTS on 22nd Jan 1940 then 9 FTS on 5th Oct 1940 and back to 1 FTS on 11th April 1941. It was then sent to Marshall's at Cambridge for
repair on 26th April 1941 and then issued to 1 FTS again on 17th June 1941 and then back to Marshall's for repair on 29th July 1941.
It was then
issued again to 1 FTS on 10th Jan 1942 and was finally Cat W/FA on 18th Feb 1942 being Struck off Charge as Beyond Economic Repair
on an unknown date.
