Audax at Thornaby

On the 22nd of September 1936 this aircraft was taking off from Thornaby airfield for the pilots first night time training flight, the aircraft crashed into woodland near Thorntree Farm, Thornaby killing the pilot. The aircraft burnt out. The aircraft was written off with Cat W/FA and struck of charge on the 3rd December 1936 with total flying hours of 212.40 hours.

The aircraft had been taken on charge by 9 FTS from its makers, Bristol having been built to contract 389426/35 their at Filton factory. and delivered to 9 FTS on the 17th of April 1936.
