Audax at Thornaby.

On the 23rd of April 1937 this aircraft overshot a landing at Thornaby airfield and overturned. Cat W/FA damage was sustained and the aircraft was struck off charge as deemed beyond economic repair.

The aircraft was built to contract 389427/35 by A.V. Roe Ltd at Chadderton and delivered to 9 FTS on 4th July 1936.

It is probably that the pilot of this Audax, a James W E Davies DFC RAF, was killed on 27 June 1940 serving with 79 Sqdn, he was 26 years old.
