On the 13th of December 1935 this aircraft this aircraft is recorded as being struck off charge with it being beyond
Beyond Economical Repair but there is no actual indication of an accident.
It may relate to the loss of an unidentified RAF aircraft on the 2nd of July 1935 in Bridlington Bay when two crew were rescued
and the aircraft was salvaged. If it was indeed this aircraft, the press report for this incident states the aircraft was from RAF Catfoss and was on a bombing practice when it
made a forced landing in the sea after both engines failed. The airmen were rescued by the Bridlington boat "Kernoozer" after climbing onto the aircrafts wing and were taken the quarter mile into Bridlington.
If this was indeed the case then why was the Wapiti taken all the way up to Thornaby to be assessed some months later.
Crew - Unknown, ok.
