Piper PA-28 near Hemlington.

On the 23rd March 1994 this aircraft was been flown from Norwich to Newcastle when it a forced landing was made at Hemlington, 2 miles E. of Thornaby. The aircraft suffered Cat 5/FA damage and was written off. Mr J Skinn recalls a civil aircraft crash landing near a road and overrunning into the garden of a house in this same area and it seems likely the two incidents are the same.

The aircraft was registered to ENPAR(North)Ltd and based at Newcastle. It was built by the Piper Aircraft Corporation and registered in the U.S.A. as N137AV in 1984. It was first registered in the UK on 11th December 1990 to ENPAR(North)Ltd. It registration was cancelled as destroyed on 26th April 1994.
