On the 22nd of February 1940 this aircraft made a forced landing on Redcar Racecourse at 23.45hrs,
the two on board were not injured. The aircraft was reportedly undamaged in the landing but was severely damaged with bullet holes.

The aircraft was built to contract 527114/36 by Bristol at Filton and delivered to 23 Sqdn in late 1939.
Following the incident above it was inspected by 60 MU on 24th February 1940. It may then not have been repaired after being
disassembled and road transported away for repair. It later became an instructional airframe, 3169M in March 1941.

The pilot was to be killed on 24th July 1940, five months after this incident at Redcar, serving with 46 Sqdn. He is buried at
Scopwick Church, Lincs. He was 21 years old.
