On the 4th of May 1937 this aircraft struck an ambulance on take-off and overturned at Thornaby airfield. Two people on the ground, one presumes those in the ambulance, were seriously injured, the pilot was unhurt. Damage sustained to the aircraft was Cat W/FA although it was some months later on the 6th of September 1938 that it was finally struck off charge suggesting that it was considered for repair. It had a total of 238 flying hours when struck off charge.
The aircraft was built to contract 437223/35 by A.V. Roe Ltd at Chadderton and delivered to 9 FTS on the 9th of July 1936.
