Curtiss JN/4 at Redcar.

On the 6th of July 1917 this aircraft is reported to have been severely damaged at Redcar, Possibly due to a collision with one of the other aircraft crashing on this date at Redcar. Damage was put at Cat R/FA, it was repaired and returned to service only to suffer a further Cat R/FA accident in September 1917. It then however appears not to have been repaired because it was surveyed on 7th of December 1917 and deleted as 'wrecked' on the 14th of December 1917.

The aircraft was built by Curtiss in Toronto, Canada and shipped to the UK arriving at AAP Hendon on the 7th of June 1916. Here it was assembled, tested and accepted on the 15th of June 1916. It was then issued to RNAS Cranwell on the 15th of July 1916 but was tranferred three days later to RNAS Redcar on the 18th of July.
