This aircraft was built by Curtiss in Toronto. After shipping to the UK it was delivered to AAP Hendon on 3rd May 1916, it was then transferred to RNAS Detling on 17th May 1916. It then was then transferred up to Redcar, via RNAS Eastchurch where it stopped over night on the 19th May 1916. It arrived RNAS Redcar on the 21st of May 1916. On the 13th of July 1916 this aircraft sideslipped into the groundon take-off from Redcar and crashed. Damage was severe and as a result the aircraft was written off, sustaining Cat W/FA damage. It was deleted from stock on the 21st of August 1916.
