Avro 504 at Redcar.

On the 29th of January 1917 this aircraft was damaged at Redcar following a force-landing due to engine failure.

The aircraft had been built by Brush EE Co Ltd of Loughbrough and was delievered to RNAS Redcar on the 16th of May 1916. On the 3rd of August 1916 this aircraft was damaged in a force-landing at Redcar suffering Cat R/FA damage. It was repaired and returned to service only to suffer this other accident on 29th January 1917, again Cat R/FA. It was however probably not repaired and deleted from stock on the 8th of September 1917.

On the 27th of June 1917 a Flight Sub-Lieutenant A C Jones was killed serving with the RNAS, it may be the same man. He is buried at Dunkirk Town Cemetery in France, he was 23 years old.
