Aircraft Crashes north of the North Yorkshire Moors

Avro 504 at Redcar.

This aircraft was built by Brush EE Co Ltd of Loughbrough and was delievered to RNAS Redcar on the 16th of May 1916. On the 3rd of August 1916 this aircraft was damaged in a force-landing at Redcar suffering Cat R/FA damage. It was repaired and returned to service only to suffer another accident on 29th January 1917, again Cat R/FA. It was however probably not repaired and deleted from stock on the 8th of September 1917.

Pilot - Flt Sub Lt Alfred T O Mann RNAS, of Sydney, Australia, ok.

Flt Sub Lt Mann was killed on 29 November 1916 whilst serving with No. 3 Wing, RNAS. He is buried at Luxeuil-les-Bain Communal Cemetery, France. He was 26 years old.
