Avro 504 near Redcar.

This aircraft was built by Brush EE co Ltd of Loughborough and delivered to Redcar on the 13th of March 1916, it was tested and accepted there on the 31st of March 1916. On the 16th of April 1916 this aircraft crashed on landing at Redcar sustaining Cat R/FA damage, the pilot was not thought to have been injured. The aircraft was later repaired and would later be damaged a number of times at Redcar, again on the 29th of October 1916, with Cat R/FA damage when it crashed on landing at Redcar damaging its wings and undercarriage. It was again repaired and damaged again on 24th January 1917 when the aircraft suffered engine failure on a flight from Redcar, the pilot force-landed the aircraft but it was damaged as a result. This damage was severe enough to write it off. It was finally deleted from stock on the 14th of February 1917. (all detailed on this website).

On the 24th of January 1917 this aircraft's pilot when it crashed near Redcar is, as yet, unknown.
