Hudson at Thornaby Airfield.

On the 13th of December 1940 an unknown Hudson is reported to have run into pill box E at Thornaby airfield on landing causing a fire in the starboard engine. The fire was soon put out and the aircraft repaired, Cat R/FA damage being sustained.

The aircraft was built to contract 791587/38 by Lockheed at Burbank, California and after delivery to the UK and acceptance it was issued to 220 Sqdn in late 1940. Following this incident it was repaired and returned to service with 220 Sqdn only to suffer a Cat W/FA accident on the 16th January 1941 when it was ditched off Redcar.
