On the 11th of December 1952 this aircraft collided with another Meteor of the same Squadron, WH455, whilst they were carrying out a practice interception at night. Both aircraft crashed into the sea killing both pilots. The cause of the collision was not established, the bodies of both pilots are still believed to be missing.

Pilot - F/Lt John Wilson Harland RAF (152618), aged 29, of Sheffield, Yorkshire. Missing. He was born on 8th July 1923.
