Whitley off Scarborough.
On the 16th of December 1940 the crew of this aircraft became lost on return from Ops to Berlin and the aircraft was
ditched some 20 miles off Scarborough. Dispite a search no trace of the aircraft or crew was ever found.
For reasons as yet unknown by myself the 2nd pilot is buried in Germany suggesting that he either was injured
over the target and his crew opted his best chance of survival was to get him help in Germany and baled him out.
The rest of the crew are commerated on the Runnymede Memorial.
