Unknown in North Sea off Scarborough (Poss He111).

On the 29th of December 1941 and aircraft dived over Scalby village before crashing into the sea off the North Bay (into Jackson's Bay) off Scarborough. A lifeboat was sent out but nothing was found. On the same date Catterick's O.R.B. records show two claims for enemy a/c shotdown and also on that date an HeIII of 9/KG40 was lost off the east coast as was a Ju88 of 1/Kustenfliegergruppe 506. Bill Norman informs me the Ju88 was shot down off Northumberland, so I assume the He111 ] could well be the unknown aircraft crashed ff Scarborough.
