Avro 504K at Scarborough.

On the 21st of July 1920 the pilot of this aircraft force landed it in the sea close to the shore at Scarborough whilst trying to find a landing place after it had suffered an engine failure in flight. The aircraft was written off.

The aircraft was built to contract 35a/2053/C2331 by the Humber Motor Co. Ltd. at Coventry as H6599 but immediately declared 'surplus to requirements' and sold to The North Sea Aerial Navigation Co. Ltd, at Leeds, on 14th July 1919, its C of A was issued two days later. It was registered to them as G-EAGW on 31st July 1919. At the time of the accident it is believed that the aircraft was being operated by Northern Air Transport Ltd, based at Brough. This company was effectively a renamed North Sea Aerial and General Transport Ltd. After this incident, detailed above, the aircrafts registration was cancelled the same month in July 1920.
