Large sea-plane in Scarborough's South Bay.
On the morning of the 6th of August 1933 a large sea plane was seen to circle Scarborough
for some time before making a near perfect landing in the South Bay, about 100 yards from the West Pier.
Many holiday makers on the towns seafront witnessed the incident with many reported to take photographs.
In about 15 minutes a number of small boats had drawn alongside the aircraft, meanwhile mechanics had began to work on the aircraft. It
was believed to have suffered engine trouble and made a force landing at Scarborough, the problem with one of the aircrafts two engines was
fixed in about an hour, the aircraft took off and flew off in the Flamborough direction. There were no injuries to the crew.
Crew - Unknown, ok.
I have no further details as to the identification of the aircraft.
