Hudson off Redcar.

At 09.50hrs on the 17th of March 1942 this aircraft crashed into the sea about a mile off Redcar and broke up. Redcar lifeboat went to try and help but were only able to recover one body at the time. Two others were later washed ashore. Of the six airmen on the aircraft, only three were ever found. The other three remain missing.

The gravestones of the two airmen whos bodies were recovered.


Sadly for the Braybrooks family on 2nd May 1941 Sidney Braybrooks was reported missing. Aged 26, he was John Braybrooks' younger brother.
