George Cayley's replica "Governable Parachute" at Brompton.

On an unknown date in 1974 Anglia Television were to film a re-enactment of the "Coachman" flight as part of a television program. The glider was made by Lt Cmdr J Sproule using Cayleys designs, it was however heavier and more robust that the original. During trails all went well but when the the glider was towed off by a car it rose to 30 feet, sailed across the Dale (where Cayley's first flight occured) and crashed with its tail breaking off and the front axle snapping.

Pilot - Mr Derek Piggott, ok.

Nothing more is yet known with regard this and many of the gliding incidents shown on this website. If anyone can add any details I would very much like to hear from you.
