On the 19th December 1941 the pilot of this aircraft was believed to have been ferrying the aircraft from Shawbury to Leuchars when it flew into bad weather and crashed into the summit of Arant Haw, to the north of Sedbergh killing the ATA pilot. The aircraft is thought to have burnt out.
Pilot - 2nd Officer Antoni H Gosiewski ATA, of Poland. Buried Maidenhead.
I visited the site with wife Caroline and Will Lund in September 2007. Vertually nothing remains of the aircraft today, the site appears to have been totally cleared. All that remains is a large bare patch containing afew tiny aircraft fragments.
