On the 1st of July 1941 the pilot of this aircraft was undertaking a training flight when he force landed the aircraft near Lartington at Battle Hill Farm at 22.30hrs. The aircraft was extensively damaged but it was probably rebuilt and flew again. The pilot was not injured.

The pilot was probably P/O Frank Howie Sutton RCAF (J/5027), who lost his life on 7th December 1941 flying with 274 Sqdn. He was from North Carolina, USA and is buried in Knightsbridge War Cemetery, Acroma. He was aged 24.
